If the seller is paying a certain amount in buyers closing costs should that be represented on the HUD-1?

Written By: admin on August 1, 2009 One Comment

I just saw my HUD-1 and don’t see any evidence that the seller is covering 8,000 of my closing costs, and it says that I owe the full amount under "settlement charges to borrower." Is this incorrect, or does this occur as a separate transaction not listed in the HUD-1?

    It’s listed on the HUD-1.

Different attorney’s do it different ways. Some do it in a lump sum, some do it item by item until they total $8,000.

Call the closing agent and find out how they calculated it, because you aren’t going to know which charges you were required to pay vs charges they paid on your behalf.

They will be pleased to go over it with you and will show you line by line where your $8,000 was spent.
