Warm locations in U.S. to move to for gay man on SSI?

Written By: admin on September 30, 2009 No Comment

I’m a 26 year ancient HIV-negative single gay male on SSI for mental illness. I do have some funds available from my SSI settlement but overall I’m seeking a location that I can budget solely on SSI and the benefits I‘m eligible for such as Section-8 or even financing a home with HUD as a first time home-buyer. I want to go to a warm climate so I can do outdoor activities most of the year. I want to have access to a sizable enough gay male population that I could find a few gay men whom would delight in accompanying me for gym workouts, simple to moderate hiking, simple bicycling, walks, swimming, picnics, visiting art galleries, etc. I have no desire to go to bars so I would like the gay populous to be large enough I can find men for these activities online or though acquaintances. The two main criteria of gays and sunshine are the most vital to me but do not necessarily need to be the extreme scenario such as San Francisco.
I would delight in not having a car, but I‘m not opposed to car ownership or car-sharing if it would allow me to live somewhere I would delight in. It would be fascinating to live in an area that is setup for and friendly toward bicyclist but I know this is overall rare and it‘s certainly nowhere near a requirement for me.
I’m certainly as interested in hearing about the less obvious locations as much as I am the most obvious locations. I’m interested in any community or city in the southern states that has a sizable gay male populous, for instance I‘m interested to know if there are any communities with a sizable gay population in Northern California. I am open to areas that get cold and have some snow, I’m just not interested in areas that have lengthy winters where I’d be stuck indoors all day.
